Floating Through Life?

Ever get that feeling that you’re just blowing with the wind, not in charge of your own destiny? Being reactive instead of proactive? Well, I know the feeling. But ya gotta remember that even when you allow yourself to be carried like that – it’s still a choice and you’re in control of it. Yes, you should absolutely make your own plans and follow through on them – but being able to seize an unforeseen opportunity when it comes your way takes presence of mind…and it could put you on a path to something positive for your future.

I always think of that poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost where a traveller comes to a fork in the road and cannot travel both paths so he must choose. He chooses the path that has been less travelled and the last line is “that has made all the difference” – which I can dig because that choice was the one he was supposed to make to fulfill his destiny.

So don’t despair my luvlies…look at your current situation and trace the steps back from where you are now to see how you got there. I bet you’ll find that there were some things you chose and some things that chose you. But in my mind, it’s all been written, predetermined – it’s destiny, fate or whatever you want to call it. That’s what I have come to believe…well, I gotta make some kind of order out of this chaos we live in.

    I love Robert Frost, and the world full of paths and roads not taken. And stories told by those who already took theirs 🙂 Much love XXX

    Nicely put. Now I’m doing what I like to do for work in spite of educating myself in the wrong field.

    Still I believe we make decisions unintentionally that take us where we belong.At least I did. I don’t believe in destiny, but I have noticed I could have followed my dreams earlier. I’ve taken few forks in the wrong direction, but hey, you live you learn. Respect for all courageous dreamers like Steve and the whole band. Hell, all rockers who dare to do what you guys do. Keep doing it so us ordinary people can enjoy you 🙂

    Reminds me this quote by Led Zepplin
    “Yes, there are two paths you can go by
    But in the long run
    There’s still time to change the road you’re on.”

    In the same spirit my friend Karen posted this to me today
    Thought I’d pass this along;
    “Do not worry if you have built your castles in the air. They are where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

    So many times we are told to build a solid foundation, but isn’t that the same thing everyone does? Maybe we should be guided by what makes us unique and build the idea from where we conceive it. If that is really high, so be it! I think the only thing that matters is if it is true to us.”

    I’ve learned to believe that it’s karma; partly our own, partly collective creation, and we’re all creating more of it every instant. Even writing this comment here creates some sort of karma. I find it really facinating.

    I agree with you, Steve.
