Q: Have you Little Steven's new album
"Born Again Savage"?
M: Yes, I have. I prefer "Voice Of
America".
Q: Would you take "Smokescreen"
to your set list, please?
M: I just might.
From Wendi
Q: Hi...you wanna marry me...I'm cute..
M: No, thank you. But thank you for
asking.
From Dominic
Q: Michael, why there is no songs from the "two steps from the move" album
on the most recent HANOI ROCKS double cd ANTHOLOGY ?
M: If you mean the "Castle"
one, it's because they don't have the rights to "Two Steps"
which was out on CBS Records.
Q: I live in MONTREAL, Canada, and here, alot of people still likes your
music, but your cd'S are VERY HARD TO FIND, it is almost impossible to get Life gets you dirty on stores... i searched for almost a year before to find
a copy of NOT FAKIN' IT... Will your record company do something for this situation ?
M: "All excellent this in life are
as difficult as they are rare..."
It's not so simple... There are a few different labels from different
times...
Q: did you ever came here in montreal for a show ? i guess you should...
M:Actually we came the once with Hanoi
Rocks during the recording of "Two Steps From The Move". But
everyone had the flu, especially Razzle. He was so sick and weak that he
couldn't hold the drum sticks in his hands. So this is one of the
rare occasions when we were forced to cancel a gig.
Q: I'M working in the biggest radio station in Canada... ( as DJ )and we
never receive your albums ... So how can we play your songs if the music
director doesn't know that you released something new ???
M: Exactly!
Riddle me this: "Who puts your record in the store for sale?"
Answer
Q: Last question: Do you miss the 80's ???
M: No. But I do miss a few people from
then, that I've lost.
Comments: I'm a big fan, and Michael, keep on rocking. You're one of the last
true Hardrocker... Best wishes and luck to you. By the way, a song like malibu beach nightmare, if it was released today, i'm sure it will get a lot
of success...
M: Thank you. Love, Bye.
From MC Baby
Comments: Kiitos maailman parhaasta musiikista
M: Kiitos! Thank You!

Q: Mikä on mielestäsi paras levy millä olet laulanut?
M: The best record I've sung on, in my
opinion is my latest "Life Gets You Dirty"
From Alexander
Q: When will it be posible to by your old stuff through this site ?
M: I don't know. Maybe never.
Q: Do you have any plans to sell more stuff like different t-shirts etc ?
M: I'd like to be able to. Probably in
the future.
Q: how can I get your autograph ?
M: Ask me when you see me.
Q: Do you've got any plans for the next album ?
M: Yes. I'll be recording in Dec/Jan.
Comments: My father introduced your stuff to me and thats the best he ever done.
Thanks for your music, it's great ! keep on rockin'
From Marisa
Q: Do you have ANY idea of how much you are utterly revered
by those of us who grew up listening to Hanoi rocks
M: I have some idea and it warms my
heart, makes me feel less lonely and still blows my mind.
Q: What is one of the best memories you have of Hanoi
Rocks
M: The times on the road when we were
still happy and stuff.
Q: Are you need a tour manager or production help for your next
US tour? (hint hint resume' available)
M: Thank you, but I think somebody is
already doing it. Sorry.
Q: If you had the last 10 years to live over again, what one
thing would you do different?
M: Nothing.
Q: What great things can we look forward to from you?
M: A great new album and great live
shows, better everything.
Comments: If there is one thing I miss about being
younger, I would have to say it is the feeling of freedom and immortality which
Hanoi Rocks (and YOU) gave me. It was a great gift for which I thank you from
the bottom of my heart--and I am serious about working for you when you tour the
US. Good luck to you and your family!
M: Thank You. I think one doesn't ever
have to lose that feeling of freedom and immortality, no matter what. All
the best to you and your loved ones.
From Sara
Q: Oletko käynyt armeijan ja missä?
M:No, I have not done the "military
service". And I never will.
Comments: Love ya!Love & Light, Sara
M: Same to you. Thank You.

Q: Hey Mike Hope your doing well. Just wondering if you will ever tour the
states again soon? You've been my favorite artist for 16 years now and have never had the opportunity to see you live.
M: As soon as possible.
Q: Hey Michael got a awesome question for you. Is there anyway possible I
could meet you? It seems every album you make parrallels my life. Your at the top of my list of celebraties ou could hang out with if given the
chance. My phone number is xxx-xxx-xxxx Little Rock Arkansas. Thanx for all the years of quality music it seems rare these days to find a consistent
artist thanks for always being there! I lost my brother in 1992 X-mas. I didn't know at the time how Hanoi Rocks album DEAD BY X-MAS would hit home.
We had many good times jamming to your tunes again thanks for the memories!
M: Thanks for sharing that with me, I
can't promise anything about meeting personally. However, if you come to
my show I usually end up coming to talk to whoever may be left hanging
outside the venue eventually as I'm leaving, unless I've had to leave
right after the show.
From ozzie
Q: Hi Michael! I hear you played with Syl Sylvain as "Trash Cowboys" in the late 80s.What did you play? How
did you find working with Syl?
M: We played songs like "14th
Street", "Trash", a then new song called "I'm Gonna
Let You Down" amongst others. It was fun for a while.
Q: Have you ever worked with David Jo or Killer Kane? I remember the latter
one mentioning that he would love to play with you and Gilby Clarke!
M: No I have not worked with them.
Q: Was the Iggy-tour a once-in -a-lifetime kind of thing or
are you going to play together in the future?
M: No plans for now, but you never know.
Q: Have you ever played "So Alone" live? I'd be glad to
hear you do that someday!
M: I played it once in New York at
Alison Gordy's show with her band including Sami Yaffa, Jamie Heath, Josh
Brown etc.
I've thought about doing it though recently. Maybe I will sometime soon...
Q: Ever considered doing a cover of Ig's "Neighbourhood Threat"? I think
it'd suit you perfectly, both lyrically and music-wise.
M: Maybe it would but nah, I don't think
so. Besides Iggy is still doing it himself better than ever.
Comments: Paskaax tässä muuta.. Toivottavasti toi
mun enklanti oli joten kuten ymmärrettävää, ulkomaanpelleillekin. Hölökyn kölökyn vaan, M.! Pistähän rokaten!
M: OK. Thank You.

Q: I've always wondered if anyone from Motley Crue had the guts to contact you regarding Razzle's death. While it was Vince Neil's fault, did anyone
from that band tell you how sorry they were about what happened? Their band
went on, your's could not because without Razzle, things weren't the same.
M: Nobody has called me to apologize and
I don't expect them to. At the time only Nikki Sixx kind of did act
concerned for a while but I think it was because they thought the guy was
gonna do some time and they wanted to form a new band with me and Andy.
Anyway, he didn't do it and I'm not blaming anybody. I'm only sad about
losing my best friend.
Comments: Michael, I am very happy to see that you are still making music. :)
I was (and still am) a metal maniac from the 80's and seeing familiar faces such as yours brings back a lot of great memories. I've heard some clips
from your "Life Gets You Dirty" but can't find it around here yet! From what I've heard, it's great! You still rock but you've also incorporated a
bit of the "new millenium" sound into it....something that should appeal to us rockers from the 80's and the new generation. Rock on, Michael!
M:Alright, thanxx. Sorry you can't find
the new record. It is supposed to be available in the U.S.
From Problem Child
Comments: Well Michael
I want tell you, that I´m very happy when I listen your music or I have see
you. And I want tell you, that I love you.
M: Thank You. It makes me happy to make
you happy. Lots of love to you too!

Q: has Jude played in any bands?
M: None other than mine as far as I
know.
Q: when you write songs with Jude who writes the lyrics and who writes the
music?
M: I usually write most of the music
'tho Jude comes up with great melodies and other musical ideas very often.
She also comes up with great titles. Lyrics have been more or less 50/50.
Q: how old is your gibson thunderbird? how much did it cost for you to have
your name inscribed in the fretboard?
M: It is actually a Gibson Firebird
and I think an early 70's model. I bought it from Andy in 1984 when it was
"sunburst" color. I had it painted glossy black and the the
pearl inlays done at "Andy's Guitar Workshop" in London for a
little over £300 Quid.
Q: what is your favourite chord?
M: Probably F#m.
Thank You.
From Jamie
Q: Damn man, its good to see your still making music! Been into you for
about 15 years now (hate admiting to that age)Discovering Hanoi Rocks is
still one of the fondest memories in my life. I spent years hunting down
all I could get my hands on. Cant wait to get my hands on the new stuff.
Whats the best way to get the new records in the states?
M: I dunno for sure. Maybe try the
internet.
Q: From the info on the last board it looks like there are no plans for a
current US tour. Any idea of the timeframe that could happen in? I know I'd
love to see ya in Chicago man. DoubleDoor would be the perfect club for you. Big enough to get loud and small enough to see whos ass your kicking.
Anyway hope to see ya out here sometime soon. You were my hero at fifteen and some things just never change.
M: Probably after the next album.
Comments: My theater company, www.wingandgroove.com
is currently running an updated rock and roll version of Molieres
Misenthrope. If your ever in the windycity check it out. Anyone with a
heart like yours will apreciate the message.
M: Thanks.

M: Thank You and all the best to you!

Q: Hey!Has life really gotten you dirty? And how dirty exactly?
M: That's for me to know and for you
never to find out.
Q: When was the last time you met the Hanoi guys? And what do you think of
them nowadays?Do you respect them and what they are doing now?
M: A couple of years ago. Of course I
respect them (contrary to popular belief) and their work. I wish them all
only good.
Q: Have you visited Razzle's grave?Isn't it on Isle of Wight? That's what
I've heard/read...
M: Not since the funeral.
Q: How crazy were the years with Hanoi?I've read a whole bunch of stuff, but
of course I can't really know what's true and what's not!But incording to what I've read, it seems that it has been pretty wild at those days? And did
you enjoy the years?
M: Well, we had some fun times but also
plenty of sorrow... I guess you just had to be there.
Q: Do you think that Hanoi broke up when Razzle died, even though you did
continue for few months or so after that? And was it the same anymore without
Razzle? To me it seems that everyone in the band respected Razzle quite much,
am I right?
M: It wasn't the same, especially
because Sami left as well. Yes, Razzle was very important to the band's
vibe and chemistry etc. and also a very dear friend.
Comments: You have been a great inspiration to me and your music has helped me
through the hard times!I really respect you a lot!I wish you and Jude (who I
respect too, no matter what other might say) all the good in this life!Love you both!Lots of love and light, I hope to see you live soon again! *Cheyenne*
M: Thank You. Same to you. See ya!
From Marjo
Q: Miks niin usealla keikalla on ikäraja?Ois kiva jos me alaikäsetkin
päästäis useemmin näkemään sut livenä!
M: Why is there an age limit at so many
gigs?
Because alcohol is being served to the "adults". I agree it's a
stupid rule and more places ought to have some kind of arrangement for the
"kids" to get in as well.
Q: Onko tietoa uudesta levystä?Hyppisin riemusta jos uus levy ois tulossa!:)
Kauanko olet muuten soittanut saxofonia?Kuulostaa niin hemmetin hyvältä!
M: New record will be recorded sometime
around next December and January. I've played saxophone since I was about
15 or so, a little over 20 years.
Q: Mikä on sun mahtavan esiintymiskyvyn salaisuus?Miten sä pysyt niin
mielettömän hyvässä kunnossa vuosi toisensa jälkeen?
M: The secret of my performance talents
and how do I keep in such good shape? Performing is like 2nd nature and
something inside of me just comes out in a powerful way. I keep exercising
enough to keep in shape.
Q: Onko sun levyistäs tehty nuottivihkoja?Ja jos on, niin mistä niitä vois
ettii?
M: I don't know if there are note books
for my music. There were a few for Hanoi I saw in Japan oce but they're
surely hard find today.
Q: Tiedän että Hanoin comebackiä ei oo tulossa ja hyvä niin, eihän se enää
olisi sama ilman Razzlea.Mutta entä Demolition 23?
M: Hanoi can't come back because of
Razzle, but how about D-23? Unfortunately the same problem: The original
guitar player Jay Hening shot himself to death a few years ago. If he was
alive I might even consider it.
Thank You.
From Damion
Q: Alright Mike, it's been years since you've played the U.S. When you
played the Rock Like Fuck tour, I was unable to make it to any of the gigs. Now that the internet helps information travel faster, I'd know if you were
going to be anywhere remotely local! So, when are you going to honor us with your presence? Some of us are 'STILL' waiting to see you live, and
have an opportunity to meet you!
M: Probably after the next album has
come out.
Q: A few years ago (the last time you were receptive to questions) I asked
you if there was any possibility of the video's off Not Fakin' It,
Demolition 23, etc...being issued on VHS, or even better DVD. My question is two-fold: Are there any developments on this front with Mercury, or
affiliates? Obviously you're no longer on that label, how bad is the blood?
Now, if there isn't any plans, or if there is tension, is there anything we fans can do, by way of writing or petitioning the aforementioned companies?
In this day of DVD, I think someone could make a bang up job of putting them
together as one definitive package. I'm sure everyone agrees, that they are
tired of never seeing MTV play them, or getting piss poor bootleg versions!
M: I haven't gotten much further with
that. Thank you for offering to help. Right now I'm too busy to deal with
that kind of stuff but one day I will pursue that more seriously.
Q: The Peace of Mind and Life Gets You Dirty CD's were fantastic. "Life",
had more of the Demolition 23 punk/sleaze/glam vibe that you're known for. Did this occur naturally, or was this a rethinking of your direction? By
the way, even though I had the German version of Peace, I did appreciate them being finally released in the U.S. With bonus tracks to boot! So
often U.S. fans miss out, or have to pay through the nose for imports and those releases are regular priced for the countries in which they were
released plus the extra tracks. It's nice to see an artist appreciate his American fans, regardless of what the bottom line was. I just wanted you to
know that I took notice, and appreciate the extra effort.
M: Thanks, that's great. No I did not
plan anything for "Life Gets You Dirty", it just came naturally.
Q: What happened to, and where can we get a hold of the discarded version of
Magic Carpet Ride you did with Slash? I was under the impression that there
were two versions done, one put on the Coneheads Soundtrack, and the other missing in action. You know fans will gobble up any extra tracks left over!
I'm really wanting to hear that particular song version.
M: I have a copy on tape but I would
never pass it on or let anyone make a copy out of respect to Slash.
Obviously he has done the same, since nobody seems to have a copy, and
they'll never get it from me. Anyways, it's pretty close to the original
versino arrangementwise. It really rocks though.
Q: Is there any way that someone can translate the questions from those
persons who are writing their questions in, for example, Finnish? Non-speaking fans are missing the dialogue!
M: I am repeating and answering them in
English now just for that reason.
Comments: I'm glad to see your pursuit of social issues in your songs still
continues. I'm happy to see at least one artist contributing to knowledge,
instead of exclusively party songs laced with ignorance. Please keep up the
outstanding work, and keep releasing top notch work. I am honored to know you through your work. 'Looking forward to seeing you on tour in the U.S.
(I hope), and continued happiness, health, and succ
M: Thanks a lot! I hope to see you soon
too!
From Jasper
Q: Michael, do you still keep in contact with Andy? If so what is he like
nowadays? Any contact with the Sami and Nasty?
M: Not much contact with them.
Q: I know you´ve seen "The Real McCoy"-movie, would you like it if someone
did a movie/documentary about you?
M: I've only actually seen parts of that
movie. Well yeah, maybe more like a documentary maybe some day. Not quite
like Andy's however.
Q: I really think your voice would sound great with a more acoustic sound
sometimes. Would you ever consider using more acoustic guitars and piano mixed with the raw rocksound?
M: Yeah, for sure. I do appreciate those
kind of soft, quiet and sensitive moments now and then.
Q: I know you don´t drink anymore, but what is your opinion on drugs today?
M: I never really drank that much
anyway. I think alcohol is one of the most dangerous and damaging drugs
partly because it's legal. I don't recommend drugs to anyone, especially
not heroin.
Q: Could there ever possibly be a Hanoi reunion!? If Andy got his act
together and you all agreed on the same terms!
M: No. Andy was not the only reason...
Comments: Michael, thanks a million times for coming over and for doing a really
great gig in Borlänge, Sweden at the "Peace&Love2000" festival! You really
rocked like fuck although I know you were sick and I also know since then that you´ve got a lot of new fans here that really loved what they saw!
Peace & Love forever,
Jasper
M: Thanks, man. Same to you.
P.S. I´m very sorry if we had some trouble with the payment. But I hope you
don´t have any hard feelings cause you´ll always be a hero of mine and I really wanna try to bring you over again a.s.a.p.
M: No hard feelings now. What the fuck,
shit happens... next time would be nice to know ahead of time, OK? We'll
see...
From pikku myy
Q: Who is the pianist on "The fallen star" ?( Hanoi Rocks/Oriental Beat)
M: Andy McCoy.
Q: Are you planning a new album soon?
M: Yeah.
Q: Where do you get all the energy? I´ve never seen anyone with such
energetic show.
M: Thanks. Well, there's always a kind
of a storm inside me which comes out when I'm on stage.
Comments: No words to describe the power of your music.
M: Alright. Thank You very much.
From Peter
Q: Sorry to bother you with old Hanoi Rocks -questions, but here we go
anyway. I remember I once read that Miettinen said that Keimo Hirvonen plays
drums on I want You/Kill City Kills -single?
M: Yes, he does. He is the "Charlie
Watts of Finland", one of the best in the world. I love the Cool
Sheiks too.
Q: If so, are Sam and Nasty plying on that single, because
when Andy was still in Pelle Miljoona Oy, he said in an interview that he is
planning to release a solo single with those songs on it in autumn -
80?
M: Nasty and Sami do play on that
single.
Q: You have said that you came up with the name Hanoi Rocks with Andy, but
what's the story behind the early version which included Nasty & Stefan Piesnack on guitars? There was a picture in
Hilse-magazine of you in some festival in summer of -80, so what songs were you playing, 'cause later almost all songs were Andy's?
M: I started the first version of Hanoi
at first and we did a few gigs. We played some of my songs that never
resurfaced, some covers, "Don't Ever Leave Me" & stuff.
Q: You said that you don't know Who is singing (female)backing
vocals on Back To Mystery City -album. Could it be the singer of Katrina & the Waves? I think I once read she said she has been singing on
Hanoi Rocks record. And what was the story of filming that recording or something like that at the time?
M: I think that Katrina sings on
"Don't Follow Me" on "Oriental Beat". Never heard
about any filming at the time.
Q: And finally more current question. Why Jari and Pete left or were they
"forced to" and what was your connection with Darrel Bath and why did it
failed? And also why didn't you continue work with the Fakin' It -tour band at the time? Thank You So Much!
Wishes Peter Pumpkin FIN(E).
M: The band I ended up playing with was
already a "band" and they looked happier being on stage. However
Jari & Pete are brilliant players and guys. Don't think it's easy
letting people go, when you've learned to love them and have played with
them for a long time. I still feel like shit about it and do everytime I
end up having to replace somebody. Darrel Bath was too expensive for me at
the time. I answered earlier about the "Not Fakin' It" tour
band...
From Tiina
Q: MOI!! Kun nyt tosta Andystä on tehty elokuvaa, kirjaa sun muuta niin onkohan
mahdollista löytää mitään vastaavaa susta?
M: No, there isn't really a book or a
movie about me, like there is about Andy, if you can call that
"book" a book...
Q: Oisko mahdollista, että lähettäisit minulle nimikirjoituksen? Siis mä
maksaisin postimaksut(luonnollisesti)!
PS:Sä tosiaankin muutut mahtavammax päivä päivältä, siis musiikillisesti ja
muutenkin...!!!!!!
M: Kiitos. Thank You. Autograph? I'll
try...
Q: Ootko milloinkaan tulos Nivalaan keikal? Ois ihanaa jos kävisit!
M: No, no plans to play in Nivala at the
moment.
Comments: I love YOU!
M: Thank You. Love to you too.
From Laura
Q: What kind of response did you get from the Peace Of Mind album where Stiv
Bators was on it?
M: A great response.
Q: How are you getting along with the rest of the guys from hanoi rocks now?
M: Fine - we never meet.
Q: When are you coming to the states? We miss you here.
M: A.S.A.P.
Q: When Razzle was alive,what was he like?He must've been a pisser.
M: One of the most brilliant guys I've
ever known.
Q: Would we ever be able to meet?I know i'd like to.It would be interesting.
M: You never know - maybe.
Comments: Keep rocking d
M: Thanxx, you too.
From Matias
Q: Bob Ezrin produced Two steps... What was it like to work with him?
M: One of the best experiences I've ever
had working.
Q: Your top 3 gigs ever?(when&where)
M: Of my own gigs? I don't know, I'm
always so critical about my past gigs. The last one I did in Spain was
good, although the club was very small in size, the vibe was great. I
liked the Grand - Monday shows in New York in 1993. I thought last
summer's gig at the "Ruisrock" Festival in Turku, Finland was
great but of course nobody filmed it.
Q: I Wanna Be With You & It's A Lie was released on Peace Of Mind Germany
version. Is it the only way to get those songs? I would love to get my hands
on them...
M: They should be on the U.S. version.
Q: When, how and where did u meet Johnny Thunders and Stiv Bators for the
first time?
M: Stiv in Portobello in London, 1982.
Johnny in England some time later.
Q: Name your allstar lineup (M.Monroe on vocals) and what would be the song?
M: Me, myself and I on bass, drums and
guitar. The song: "I Me Mine".
Comments: Life gets your dirty is fantastic. I love it.
Good luck for the tour
M: Thank You very much.
From Michael
Q: Do you think it´s possible to see the good old Hanoi Rocks reform in the
near future?
M: No I don't.
Q: Will you be doing some collaborations with Axl Rose or backyard babies?
M: I guess it is possible, if it's meant
to be.
Q: How do you take your coffee?
M: Milk and 3 sugars.
Q: What kind of a car do you own? Is it fast like hell?
M: I do not own a car anymore. I had a
Volvo when I lived in the country. Cars are a pain in the ass and there's
too many of them anyway.
Comments: I really dig your music.
Keep on rock
M: Thanx. Same to you.
From Sandrine
Q: We're still waiting to see you in France... Do you think that it will be
possible soon?
M: I hope so.
Q: With which band would you like to tour if you can choose on?
M: The one I have now.
Q: How is going your ankle today?!
M: It's okay most of the time. Thank you
for asking.
Q: Would you be interessed to play with an orchestra like most of bands used
to do today?
M: I did once, live and it was pretty
incredible but I'll stick to Rock'n'Roll, Thank you.
Q: Is there a song from another band you would like to have written. If yes,
which one
M: How can I say which one of it hasn't
been written yet? (Ha ha.)
No I don't think so.
Comments: Just love him and his music!
M: Thank You. All the best!
From Anders
Q: Hi Michael. Please come and play in Stockholm soon. You´ve still got a
lotta fans here.
M: I'll try to.
Q: Did you see the "Real McCoy" film, and if, did ya like it? I did.
M: I didn't see the whole thing but what
I saw was pretty heavy and intense, but also pretty funny.
Q: Where did you get that faboulus golden suit you were wearing on some late
Hanoi promo-pictures. I wanna buy one myself. (In case you remember it)
M: I bought it in Tokyi in the Harajuku
are in 1984.
Comments: Fuck like a rock!!!!!!!!
M: Er... um... whatever you say... Thank
You.
From Steven
Q: Our band Fake Finn (http://www.mp3.com/fakefinn) has had the pleasure of opening for Michael at the rowdy RÄYHÄ ROCK shows many times. I was floored
by how incredible Michael's voice is live. Any chance of a live MMonroe album in the future?
M: It is possible but not planned yet.
Q: Speaking of live shows, were any of the Germany gigs with Iggy Pop
recorded? (radio shows? Internet shows?) Is there any way for fans to hear those (especially the Berlin show)?
M: I think one or two of them were
supposed to have been filmed but I haven't gotten anything yet.
Q: Songwriting question...what is your usual process of writing? Do you
usually concentrate more on the riffs and melodies or the lyrics? Which is
easier for you?
M: Music often comes first. A good title
with a concept means you're half way there. That's what I look for first.
Q: I don't think I've ever heard a true Monroe ballad...do you have any slow
songs in you?
M: That is a matter of opinion. I guess
"It's A Lie" is a king of a ballad. "Deadtime Stories"
to me is also. But whatever you think... I'll never do a formula rock
ballad, so to speak. I'm here to rock like fuck.
Q: You've mentioned a disillusionment with the business of music business.
Have you been following the new ways to use the internet to distribute music
to cut out the record companies and sell product directly from your site...giving the artist a MUCH bigger financial return? I'd love to see
live/rare CDs or EPs sold exclusively from your website. Any chance of that
happening in the future? Many thanks...love & light.
M: I haven't gotten into the Internet
"business" totally yet. But I guess I could, if that's the way
things go... I just can't be bothered with all that business shit.
To be continued...
