Q: I HATE TO BRING UP A SORRORFUL THING, BUT, THERE IS A T.V. SHOW HERE IN
AMERICA, "VH1 BEHIND THE MUSIC". (BY THE WAY, A HANOI ROCKS BEHIND THE MUSIC
WOULD BE RAD!!), BUT THE SHOW PROFILES MOTLEY CRUE. IT MADE ME SICK. AND
SAD. SICK BECAUSE VINCE SHOWED NO REMORSE,(STILL), AND HE CHUCKLED WHEN HE STATED THAT HE "BOUGHT HIS WAY OUT OF JAIL"> THEN LATER I GOT SAD BECAUSE HE
SPOKE, AND SHED A TEAR FOR HIS DAUGHTER HE LOST TO CANCER. I'M NOT A GIRL
OF "FAITH", BUT I FEEL SOMEHOW, HIS DAUGHTER PAID THE PRICE FOR HIM..THE QUESTION IS, WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT?? HAVE YOU SEN THE PROGRAM? IT'S
VERY COOL!! AGAIN, A HANOI PROFILE, WOULD BE THE HIGHEST RATEDE ONE!!! THANX FOR YOUR MUSIC, OLD ^ NEW
M: No I have not seen the program and no, I don't think about it.
Thank you
From Michelle
Aika on selvästi lyhentynyt. HUOMINEN ON ITSEASIASSA JO TÄNÄÄN.
Q: ootko miettiny andyn kans et palaako hanoi rocks areenalle uudestaan!!!
M: Kuten sanottu: Ei.
Kiitos

Q: Is there any unreleased Hanoi material and could it be released one day?
M: I doubt it. At least not in my
posession.
Q: Is it absolutely impossible that you and Andy could still work together? I mean like touring together or colloborating in
songwriting.
M: I'm afraid so.
Q: Why there hasn't been any video from Life Gets You Dirty? Save us...now there's "nothing new going on inside the
view".
M: Talk to my Record Label(s). I need a
budget!
Comments: Thanx for all those great albums and
gigs!
M: My pleasure! Thanks to you.
From Johnny
Q: Onko tiedossa Turussa keikkaa?
M: Ei vielä varmasti, mutta seuraa
website gig updatea.
Q: ...entä jatkoja Janitalla? Jossa olit esim. Ruisrockin jälkeen! Olis kiva päästä messiin!
M: Tuskin.
From Jani
Q: Suhteesi huumeisiin? Rehellinen vastaus. Kiitos!
M: Ei ongelmaa. Ole hyvä.
Q: Paras suomalainen bändi?
M: Wigwam & Cool Sheiks
Q: Osaako Jude puhua suomea?
M: Muutaman sanan ja lauseen (kuten: "Anna mun kaikki kestää!" esim.), mutta ei varsinaisesti sujuvasti.
Q: Mitä Mike Monroe tekee 20 vuoden kuluttua?
M: En ole ennustaja... mutta luultavasti samaa suunnilleen kuin nyt.
Q: Omat nuoruuden Idolisi?
M: Ozzy Osbourne ja Black Sabbath.
Alice Cooper (levyt "Love It To Death", "Killer", "Billion Dollar Babies" etc.)
Little Richard
Rolling Stones
CCR (John Fogerty)
From Minna
Q: Aiotko sä muuttaa takas ulkomaille (toivottavasti ET, ainakaan pian)?
M: En ole suunnitellut, ainakaan lähitulevaisuudessa.
Q: Miten sä tutustuit Jude Wilderiin?
M: Jude oli Hanoi Rocks'in "Product Manager" CBS-levy-yhtiössä v. -84. Myöhemmin meistä tuli parhaita frendejä.
Q: Millanen sun lapsuus oli?
M: Ihan kiva ja tavallinen normaali, kunnes jouduin kouluun. N. 7-vuotiaana kansakoulussa mul oli häiriintynyt opettaja joka päätti ottaa mut silmätikukseen, mm. heitti ulos usein syyttä ja johtajan (rehtorin) puhutteluun jatkuvasti. Lopulta mut lähetettiin lapsipsykiatrille, missä mut todettiin ikäistä älykkäämmäksi ja opettajani hulluksi.
Q: Koska ja missä aiot heittää seuraavat keikat Suomen kamaralla (en mitenkään päässy Ruisrockiin enkä Ankkarockiin)?
M: Toistaiseksi ei mitään varmaa tällä hetkellä.
Q: Jos mä törmäisin suhun jossakin, haittaisko sua jos mä uskaltaisin tulla vaihtamaan muutaman sanan?
M: Tuskin haittaisi.
Comments: Don't you ever leave me! (Älä lähde Suomesta) Sä oot opettanu mulle mulle mitä tarkottaa ITSEKUNNIOITUS ja mä oon siitä sulle ikuisesti kiitollinen. Sun musiikkis on mulle terapiaa! Lämpimät terveiset Judelle! Love ya...
p.s. Nää kysymykset saatto tulla kaks kertaa, ensin ilman kommentteja...
sorry, kun sähläsin!
M: Ei se mitään. Kiitos vaan.

Q: Mike, I heard an interview with Sebastian Bach on the radio. He is the
lead man in the musical "Jeckyl and Hyde" on Broadway. He listed Hanoi Rocks as one of his influences. He said he has a hanoi rocks poster up in
his dressing room. Do you still keep in contact with him. With the new resurgence of the metal scene in the U. S., I think it is a perfect time to
launch a U.S. tour. The last time I saw you was at the Grand Club IN NYC. Any plans for a
tour?
M: Yes, there are plans for a U.S.
tour in the near future if all goes well, but nothing concrete at the
moment.

Q: How did you feel about last gig in japan?
M: It was fun.
Q: Last time in japan, I gave a black oriental fun! Do you remember me?? If
you remember that,I'm just so happy!!!
M: Of course I remember you.
Q: Have you got married with jude? I've heard you & jude got married for a
few years ago. If you so, I celebrate you.
M: Thank you, but I like to keep my
private life to myself.
Q: I want you to come in osaka,Japan!!! And I hope to see your live in
there. Please come and play many songs of you.I've been waiting for long long
time...
M: I want to come there too!
Doing my best to get a tour together there.
Q: I'm big fun of you & hanoi rocks for 12 years. I don't want you to
reunion hanoirocks. But I want you to see session with Andy McCoy.
Will that dream come true?
M: I don't know... might be a
nightmare come true.
Comments: I always support you.I think you are the
king of rockn'roller of the world!!!!!
Lots of Love,* Yuki Kanda*
M: Thank you for your support!
Lots of love to you too.
From Jari
Q: Who is the best guitarplayer you have worked with ?
M: I would say Phil Grande (Not
Fakin' It), and Jay Hening (Demolition 23).
Q: If you had the chance to be a singer in your favorite band, what band
would it be ?
M: Hanoi Rocks, if it was possible.
Q: Which singer would you like to sing a duett with ?
M: Kory Clarke (Warrior Soul)
Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)
Alice Cooper, to name the first few came to mind.
Q: If you are visiting a rock festival, whitch 5 bands would you see on
stage of the bands today ?
M: Warrior Soul, Rolling Stones, Pink
Floyd, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath (whoops! I guess that's
6...)
Cheap Trick (well that's 7).
Iggy Pop (Alrite... I lied - 8).
Q: What about playing on the Sweden Rock Festival next year
M: Don't know yet. I wouldn't mind.
Comments: Do you know that you are one of two Michael´s who´s been working with
both Slash and Steve Stevens ? The other Michael was Michael Jackson.
M: Funny you should say so. I once
"did lunch" in a fancy restaurant in Hollywood with a lawyer who
was working for Michael Jackson at the time and he would refer to Mr.
Jackson as "The other Michael". Surely a part of his snowjob
flattery routine.
From Deb
Q: Are you planning on releasing a home video for the us?
M: No, but it's a good idea.
Q: How long do you think that your us tour will
run?
M: At least a couple of months.

Comments: I think you are fantastic love your music and wish you all the best in
life and love
Love always Deb
M: Same to you. Thank You.
From Casey
Q: What about a gig in Italy?
M: I'd love to play there!
Q: Do u think u will do some other things with the Backyard
Babies?
M: You never know... actually I'm
supposed to sing on this song they have in the works with many other
singers (like Kory Clarke, Joan Jett, Joey Ramone Etc.) called
"Friends" or something, but I haven't heard from them for quite
a while... maybe they forgot about me?
Q: What are your favourite bands right now?
M: Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Iggy Pop,
mine
Comments: MIKE IS GOD!!......i would love to ask more but I'm to excited to
think!!!!! :)
M: Well, Heyyy... Thank You very
much. Lots of Love.
From Luz Taurozzi
Q: what did you want to become as a kid?
M: A Rock'n'Roll Singer
Q: which are your goals as an artist?
M: To get better at what I do and to
keep doing it without compromising.
Q: have you found the person whom you would share your life?
M: Jude Wilder so far is the only
person who's been able to put up with my crazy life for the past 15 years
and still remain friends as well as my cat. I don't know if I could ever
really "share" my life anyone completely.
Q: do you wanna have kids , build up a family?
M: No fucking way. I have enough
trouble dealing with myself as it is. I love my cat. He's enough of a a
kid for me.
Q: would you tell me a dream?
M: No starvation or violence in the
world. No suffering unnecessarily, no wars. People living in perfect
harmony lovingly.
Comments: you are a person full of light , its no surprisig why so many people
love you
see you , L.
M: Thank You. Love and Light to You!
From Stefania
Q: would you like I send you the photo we made together
M: If you'd like.
Q: do you remember in Stuttgart the hat that you give me
M: Yes, I do.
Q: Do you think you will come to Italy one day
M: Probably.
Q: I would like to know you better than in Stuttgart, is
it possible
M: Maybe a little bit better.
Q: Are you well now?
M: Physically I'm alright.
Emotionally my heart is breaking but that's nobody's business.
Comments: You are the most beautiful and nice man
I knew in all my life, and I'm not a baby, I'm thirty, but you hit me so much! I hope to see you very so
M: Thank You. See you soon!
From John
Q: Do you find the World Wide Web to be helpful in promoting your music?
M: It can be very helpful, I'm sure,
at least in communication. I don't know about selling records for me, yet
at least, but others have done that successfully. I'll still not get a
computer in my home...
Q: How did you decide on the name "Hanoi Rocks"?
M: Andy suggested "Chinese
Rocks" and I said that's a Johnny Thunders song. So he said, how
about "Hanoi Rocks" and I said, "that's it! That's the name
of my band whether your in it or not."
Comments: Two Steps From The Move, is one of my all time favorite albums.
Whenever I play it for my friends they always ask; "who is this, and why haven't I heard it before"? I tell them they just haven't been enlightend:)
There will never be another Hanoi Rocks, and there is only 1 Michael Monroe.
M: That's right. Thank You. All the
best!
From MICHAEL
Q: come and play DENMARK
M: Okay.
Q: come and play DENMARK,NOW
M: Okay, okay, NOW!
Q: come and play DENMARK,YEAH I MEAN IT
M: Yeah, Yeah I know! NOW! Right?
Q: come and play DENMARK,MEAN, MEAN IT
M: Yeah, I'm on my fuckin' way, right
NOW!
Q: YOU GET THE PICTURE?
M: Which one? Oh, you mean "The
Mona Lisa"? No, you must mean the movies. Which film? ...er... Yeah,
James Bond!... Duh... yeah I get it.
Comments: come and play DENMARK, or malmø or just south of da border.
BUT PRONTO........PLEASE
M: I'd love to. Doing the best I can.
There's just a small matter to negotiate. Thank You.
From JaMes
Q: I believed at the time that Hanoi were right on the brink of being
*massive* just when Vince spun the Pantera. Did you guys think that too?
M: I don't know what the others were
thinkin'. I knew we could have been.
Q: Would GunsnRoses have got their break if it wasn't for Hanoi?
M: According to Axl Rose "Nobody
would even know about Guns'n'Roses or Motley Crue, for that matter, if
Hanoi Rocks wouldn't have broken up".
I don't know if Hanoi in any way "paved the way" for them, they
were just influenced by us. But the world was ready for that type of band
with attitude.
Q: Do you think that your solo work is as good as the Hanoi
stuff?
M: Personally I think it's better
than Hanoi, but that's just a matter of taste. I'd like to think that I've
evolved since Hanoi.
Q: Was Johnny Thunders really like that all the time?
M: What is "Like That"? He
was a great guy and the best friend anyone could have. Just like Stiv
Bators. But you'd have to have a good sense os humour. I don't think
"like that" really describes a person...
Q: Andy McCoy. Love him or hate him?
M: Both.
Comments: I've posted a request on alt.music.bootlegs for a tape from Ruisrock.
I'll let you know if I score.
M: Thanks a lot! I'm looking forward
to hearing from you. All the best.
From Mark
Q: Have you seen the Real McCoy movie? If so what did you think to
it?
M: I've only seen parts of it. It
seems very heavy and interesting, to me a little disturbing in fact. Maybe
that's why I haven't seen the whole thing yet.
Q: What is Andy like as a person, have you seen him
lately?
M: Very complex and surely a mess to
live with but very talented and pretty goodhearted underneath it all.
I haven't seen him lately.
Q: Will you be touring in England again, if so when and
where?
M: Hopefully soon. Don't know yet.
Q: Do you know if ther would be any chance of Andy touring in england or
anywhere else shortly?
M: No idea.
Q: Is there, or will there ever be a book about Hanoi and yorself in the
future, I'm sure it would make great reading.
M: There actually is a picture book
of Hanoi called "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" out in Japan in
Japanese, just waiting to be published in English, which it was originally
written in, but so far nobody's been willing to publish it... Any
Offers?!?
A Michael Monroe Story, a great idea, maybe one day...
From LAURA
Q: ARE YOU MARRIED?
M: Excuse me but it's none of your
business.
Q: HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHERE IN THE U.S. YOU PLAY?
M: I leave that to my booking agent
and manager, although I do have the final say.
Q: HOW CAN I PURCHASE YOUR NEW CD AND HANOI CD'S INTHE STATES, THEY ARE SO
HARD TO FIND.
M: Demand them of your record stores.
Tower Records used to have some in New York and Smash CD on St. Mark's
Place in N.Y. also. But I dunno... "Life Gets You Dirty" is
officially released there by SPV's DNA label so it should be available.
Q: HOW DO YOU FIND THE TIME TO ANSWER ALL THESE QUESTIONS, YOU'RE SCHEDULE
MUST BE CRAMMED.
M: I don't know either. I guess
"anything for true fans" (almost). Well I stay up late anyways,
so hey, what the hell? Besides it's nice to see what you people have on
your minds nowadays.
Q: YOU STILL LOOK HOT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS (NOT TO IMPLY YOU ARE OLD) I'VE
BEEN A FAN SINCE YOUR HANOI DAYS AND YOU LOOK AWESOME.
M: Well, Thank you very much.
From JOHNP.
Q: WHEN ARE YOU COMING TO CHICAGO? I SAW YOU ON THE DEAD , JAIL.. TOUR AND SLASH JUMPED ON STAGE. THE BEST SHOW IVE EVER
SEEN!!
M: Yeah that was a fun show. If and
when this tour plan works out, I should be able to say - This November so
let's keep our fingers crossed.
Q: WHAT KIND OF AMPS DID YOU USE TO GET THE SOUND ON LIFE GETS YOU DIRTY? -
AWESOME TONES!!
M: Thanks! Old Marshall top &
cabinets very loud with mostly a Gibson Les Paul guitar plus some Gibson
Firebird. Also with me playing inside the studio next to the Marshall
stack, instead of the control room... (You know, for feedback and stuff).
Comments: THANKS FOR STAYING REAL AND CARRYING THE ROCK AND ROLL FLAG IN THE
FACE OF LAME BANDS LIKE LIMP BISCUIT, ECT!!!!!
M: My pleasure, although I don't know
who the "Limp Biscuit" are.
I'VE SEEN EVERY BAND FROM KISS TO AC/DC - THE ONE TIME YOU CAME TO CHICAGO
WAS THE BEST SHOW IVE EVER SEEN!!
M: I'm very flattered. Thank You, I'm
glad you think so.
F%^& THE RECORD LABELS - YOU ROCK!!!!
M: RIGHT! THANK YOU!
From Maria
Q: Mikä asia on sinulle kaikkein tärkein tällä hetkellä ?
M: Elää onnellisesti.
Q: Lempikappaleesi 'Life gets you dirty' levyltä ?
M: Nimiraita, ...Paranoid, S.D.
Blues, I Send You Back, What's With The World?, If The World Don't Want
Me, No Means No, Since When Did You Care... pretty much all of them, siis
enemmän tai vähemmän kaikki kappaleet...
Q: Uutta levyä tiedossa lähi aikoina ?
M: Yeah, mutta ensi vuoden puolella.
Comments: Terve Michael..
Kiitos paljon Ankkarockin (2000) keikasta. Se oli aivan mahtava.. Hauskaa pidettiin ja hiki virtasi. Peace, love and Rock 'n' Roll !
M: Kiitos itsellesi. Voi hyvin.
From Jari
Q: Recently I've read some of the Michael's Adventures in old Suosikki
magazines, and I have to say it's always been intriguing stuff. Do you have any plans on writing memoirs of what's happened to you in your life and in
music business? I'm sure that'd be a great read for all your fans.
M: Absolutely, I must one day.
Q: What were your experiences of the UK tour last year? I'd like to hear
your comments on the venues and how you saw the gigs. Same goes with the recent German tour with
Iggy.
M: I enjoyed the gigs and people
seemed to also. I have a better band now but that one was ok too. Venues
ok, though one club had some bullshit rule about curfew. I had to do a
short set. Iggy tour was great too, though the set were cut pretty short.
Q: What in your opinion is the best rock city in Finland as far as venues
and crowds are concerned? I.e. a guaranteed great Michael Monroe gig.
M: Tavastia in Helsinki and Bluestock
in Turku.
Q: What's the best/most memorable solo and Hanoi gig you've ever had? Why?
M: There's too many... Solo in -89 at
the Tokyo Dome, New Year's Eve with Don Henley, Bryan Adams and Huey Lewis
on the bill with about 60-70 000 people in the audience.
Hanoi at Reading Festival, U.K. cos we kept playing 'though we had stuff
thrown at us.
Q: Name the person(s) who have inspired you the most. What do you think
makes them special enough to inspire you?
M: Stiv Bators & Johnny Thunders
for never selling out. Alice Cooper, a pioneer.
Comments: I wish you all the best in your life and a whole lot more! Love,
peace, happiness, good health and rock'n'roll!
M: Same to you, thank You.
To be continued...
