Guestbook of November
1999
Well, i don't know what to say.....Only one thing: Hanoi Rocks
were fuckin' great and Michael is even greater. It's a pitty
i didn't go to Mike's gigs in England (in study at Wolverhampton)
but i couldn't afford it. It's a shame. Well, i really hope that
i will get the chance to meet one of my all-time idols one day...Until
then.... I guess i'll just keep on Rockin' And...Mike please
come over in Greece oneday... Either play a gig there or just
for vacation (i'd love to show you around). Well, that's all...
Mike, Take care and keep on rockin', you rule man. SEE YA

The guy who is in charge of the D23 video covers is very ill
at the moment but has promised to attend to them as soon as health
permits. Dunno what happened to hold stuff up before then though.
But it's not a rip-off situation, just in case anyone is worried
about that! Grit your teeth and have patience :-)

Still no Demolition 23 video and it's been quite a while since

of you are having the same problem? This sucks big time!

Michael, I absolutely love Hanoi Rocks as well as what you have
done in your solo career; you're a great songwriter!!! Unfortunately
I was only 2 when Hanoi played in the U.S. & too young to still
to go to shows the last time you were here so I hope that you
do come play here again soon (any chance of that?). I know that
times have been tough along the way, but I totally respect that
you never got Hanoi Rocks back together even though it probably
could have made you lots of money. Many people walk into my room
and ask who the glam guy with the blonde hair and striking eyes
is on my wall and I always have to play something from 'Tracks
From A Broken Dream' for them (Malibu Beach Nightmare & Do The
Duck always make me smile). It's funny, a lot of those people
thought that the glam days of the 80's were ridiculous & sucked,
but I have yet to hear any complaints about your music. Just
thought I'd let you know that there is people from a younger
generation that appreciate what you've done. Anyway, I look forward
to hearing the new album if & when I can get my hands on it.
Do you plan on getting US distribution cause it seems that every
record store around here has some excuse or another why they
can't get what I want. Well no matter what you do, I wish you
all the luck in years to come. Keep rockin & I'll see you someday
in the front row! Love Always, Kim P.S. I don't know if you've
heard of the 'Monster Ballads' CD or not (it's a compilation
of mostly classic glam ballads from the 80's), but 'Don't You
Ever Leave Me' should have been on it. It'll always be a classic
in my mind!!!

Hey People. I'm an ignorant person and I'd like to know something
about Hanoi Rocks. Today I got "The best of Hanoi Rocks"-cassette
from a flea market and since I like Rock'n'Roll very much I loved
this cassette. Hmm, and I'd like to know if Mike Monroe does
the lead vocals in all of the Hanoi songs?? And which Hanoi Rocks
albums do you like the best? I hope there's someone out there
who could help me. Feel free to mail me! Thanks

We are starting to write for the Cherie record and I was wonderin
if you'd be into writing some songs for her or collaborating.
The record will come out on Triple X next year. Thanks Frank

On pitänyt jo kauan ostaa Life gets you dirty ja tänään
sen sitten tein! Aivan mahtava kertakaikkiaan!!!!! Levy on täynnä
todella aitoa meininkiä ja on ehdottamasti paras levy mitä
90-luvulla on tehty!! Mitä tähän nyt voisi lisätä,
kaikki jotka ovat kuulleet Life gets you dirty:n biisejä
tietävät kyllä mistä puhun ja ne jotka eivät
ole tähän vielä tutustuneet niin uskokaa minua,
KANNATTAA OSTAA!!Tästä levystä tulen nauttimaan
vielä vanhana mummona ja tekarit suussa laulan:If the world
don´t want me then I don´t want the world... Keep
on rocking!!!!

Hi Michael! Just wanted to thank you. The first album I bought
was "Back to mystery city" and I've bought every single
one after that. Including yer solo work. You're brilliant, mate.
And I do mean that. I hope someday my band (Sunday Poet) will
be supporting you on your world tour. And moreover, I was born
in Finland like you. Be strong, man. And a lil' poem for all
Sunday people around the world: "On the palm of your hand
like a flower in the sand on your breast I will lay my head when
I've done my day Think of me and I will be there The sun is shining
everywhere Close your eyes and I'll sing you a song about love
that could never go wrong..." *

Hi Michael. I hope you read the letters that arrive at your Poste
Restante box! Something's been preying on my mind since Jude
filled me in on it and I wanted to set it right with you. I doubt
you've given it a second thought but I'll feel a lot better knowing
you my side. Of course, if you're reading this before you get
my letter you won't have a clue what I'm on about but it's not
something I'm going to explain in a public forum! Thanks in advance
if you take a minute or two to read it. Love and respect to you
and Jude, hope you're both well and happy.

Michael, I have been a fan for a long time, since the first time
I heard Malibu Beach. It has been hard to track down all your
recent stuff(J.S., Demo 23, Peace of Mind), but I have found
it thanks to people all over the world. I used to go see you
Monday nights at the Grand Club in New York. Great shows with
Warrior Soul(Best band to never make it big). There are alot
of fans in the states waiting for you to come back. The new stuff
sounds great, so come back to New York for a couple of shows.
If you play at Club Life again, post it on the web site, many
people will show. See ya in New York. Steve Knapp

it's good to see a website dedicated to a real musician and one
of rock musics great characters. I got into this kind of music
about 1984 and first got into Hanoi Rocks about then and since
I have followed Mike's solo career (and those of the various
other members). I have to say the solo stuff is brilliant everything
from Nights are so long to life gets you dirty. I was privilged
to see Mikes gig at Birmingham XL's a couple of weeks ago and
came face to face with Mike, it was a f@!*ing brilliant gig and

Mike - a little verse about your home country which was sung
at Anfield in respect the the Liverpool Defender Sam Hyypia --
Finland, Finland, Finland, The country where I want to be, Pony
trekking or camping, Or just watching TV, Finland, Finland, Finland,
It's the country for me. You're so near to Russia, So far from
Japan, Quite a long way from Cairo, Lots of miles from Vietnam.
Finland, Finland, Finland, The country where I want to be, Eating
breakfast or dinner, Or snack lunch in the hall, Finland, Finland,
Finland, Finland has it all. You're so sadly neglected, And often
ignored, A poor second to Belgium, When going abroad. Finland,
Finland, Finland, The country where I quite want to be, Your
mountains so lofty, Your treetops so tall, Finland, Finland,
Finland, Finland has it all. Finland, Finland, Finland, The country
where I quite want to be, Your mountains so lofty, Your treetops
so tall, Finland, Finland, Finland, Finland has it all. Finland
has it all... Hope ya like it too TC.

Kiss FM?I'm astonished. MICHAEL, I just got an idea that you
should release your own millenium single. I think the old Hanoi
song In The Year Of 79 would be so great...IN THE YEAR OF 99
(It's Too Late).

Mike was on the air on Radio Kiss FM on Wednesday morning for
about 15 minutes,I think they got to wake him up,he sounded a
bit dizzy,he told he had been prepairing a new pair of stage
pants the same night. He has a such a sence of humor! They even
played Self Destruction Blues after the interview:on Radio Kiss
FM can you imagine!! This could be called a progress, what???

Master Monroe - you`re late - go and stand in the corner young
man! What happened? There we all were at The Army and Navy @
Chelmsford, gone 11pm, last orders called at the bar and still
no Mike Monroe and band! Well, he did turn up but only managed
about 30 minutes before the curfue!! His excuse was, it has to
be said, crap! He said he didn`t know his hotel was over 90 mins
away ( not `A Million Miles Away` then Mike? ). All the other
bands made it. Great performance though, More Mike next time?
Surley it`s simply down to poor planning if you don`t know where
the venue is to your hotel. Great album as well, love it now
I`ve played it more than once. Come back soon Mike!

This is more of a question.. My mate Scott has been getting me
into the band Japan. I enjoy the music and all, then he plays
me their first album, "Adolescent Sex". I look at the
liner notes and see that Sylvian and crew bare a striking resemblance
to Hanoi Rocks. And there were some brief sparks of similar sounds.
So my question is, was Japan an influence at all? Or is it a
really weird coincidence? I even saw That Fin Costello who photographed
Hanoi Rocks also photographed Japan.. I know it's a silly question
but I got to ask.. -K

Dear Michael - thank you very much for the note you sent via
Markku. I hate saying personal stuff in front of who I'm not
talking to but I guess leaving a message here is the best way
to let you know that I really hope you didn't think I was being
critical or petulant when I said you seemed bemused, I was more
teasing a bit. I know fine well you had a 101 things on your
mind when I spoke to you and am not complaining. I felt unfair
even taking up any of your time as I'm no-one to you and I didn't
even have the thing with me cos I thought I'd never get a chance
to hand it to you. Giving a gift is about bringing some happiness
or fun to the recipient, I wasn't looking for attention in giving
it, I just hoped you'd get a kick out of it. But I do really
appreciate you letting me know you got it. I appreciate too your
thoughtfulness about expense but you must know it's not much
compared to what some fans spend travelling half-way round the
world to see you! Anyway, that wasn't even an issue because I've
gotten so much from being a fan of Hanoi and your solo work in
the past 12 years that 10 times whatever it cost would still
be a bargain, so long as you liked it. I only wish I could do
something more, be useful in some way, like Markku and others
who can work for you as friends and professionals while still
remaining a fan. BTW, I sincerely hope you did some interviews
with UK mags like Kerrang! while you were here. It's not just
Finland that wants to read about you, as well as hear the new
music! LGYD deserves to sell well for you and I hope the current
scene isn't so obsessed with the flavour-of-the-month bands that
genuine talents like yours are going to be overlooked again,
like when POM came out. You deserve everything to go right for
you and I hope that's just what happens. With love and respect...

HIYA MICHAEL, JUST TO SAY HAD A BRILLIANT NIGHT AT ROCK CITY
IN NOTTINGHAM ON THE 17TH OCTOBER. HAD BOUGHT PEACE OF MIND ALBUM
A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE, HAVING SEEN A REVIEW IN KERRANG (I
THINK), WHICH WAS'NT TOO FAVOURABLE. HAVING LISTENED TO IT A
COUPLE OF TIMES I GOT REALLY INTO IT. WHEN I SAW AN ADVERT TO
SEE YOU LIVE I THOUGHT I COULD NOT MISS OUT, HAVING BEEN A FAN
OF HANOI ROCKS SINCE I WAS ABOUT THIRTEEN. BEING TOO YOUNG TO
SEE YOU, THIS WAS AN OPPORTUNITY I COULD NOT MISS. YOU PUT ON
A FANTASTIC SHOW, AND HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR FOR
ME. I ALSO BOUGHT A COPY OF LIFE GETS YOU DIRTY AT THE GIG AND
THINK THIS IS THE BEST ALBUM I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG, LONG TIME.
ALL TRACKS STAND OUT ON THE ALBUM AND PERSONALLY I PREFER THIS
TO ANY OTHER WORK YOU HAVE DONE. HOPE YOU GET THE DESERVED REVIEWS
THE ALBUM AND TOUR SHOULD RECEIVE. WEB SITE IS EXCELLENT ALSO,
