GUESTBOOK OF JUNE 2002

A few more words about last Ankkarock. Yep, Andy did have a lot of problems with his guitar equipment because his guitar-tech left them in the rain and he got some shocks while playing :) He wasn't able to play the riff in "I Can't Get It" all the time because of that. He had problems in few other songs too, but still the show was quite great. I have the whole concert on a videotape so I know what I'm talking about. And the gig was way better than in Ruisrock..

Andy has a new hobby! In MTV3 news they told that Andy has started to sail! They showed a clip where Andy was sailing with 2 other fellas. The boat's name is "HANOI ROCKS" :) Cool!

Love & Light vaan kaikille.

About last summers Ankkarock. If I remember right Andy didn´t play half of the songs because his guitar didn´t work. And one time he left the whole stage and came back because someone told him to go back! Those were the main things I remember from the show. It wasn´t good far from it. I also have noticed that every festival only Hanoi seems to have problems.

This time at Ruisrock they will ROCK IT and show EVERYONE, even you, who have come all the way from Japan to see 'em that they are the best band in the world!! Obviously there was that terrible loss when Michael lost his wife last summer and the man could not possibly be himself back then. It was really, really nice to see people from all over the world who had come to see just him. Come again. Love.

Last summer I saw Hanoi in Ruisrock, Ankkarock and Tavastia. After Ruisrock I though I saw a "pretty good" show, it wasn't very impressive, but it was ok. Maybe I would say that it actually sucked a little if that wasn't my very first time to see them live. The gig in Ankkarock was much better and when they finally had a gig in a club at Tavastia they proved me that this really band really is worth the name. But I'm still wondering the thing that every other band doesn't seem to have problems at all but everytime when there's a Hanoi show something goes wrong.. Maybe this band should hire some more people around them while touring..

I was at Kouvola and I have to say it was better than what I saw last summer. Well maybe Ruisrock was better not because of sounds but it was much longer. They didn´t play for example until I get you, but that wasn´t their fault. The organisizer was to blame because they ordered to Hanoi to stop playing because time was up and it wouldn´t be legal to play longer. I believe it was the first time they didn´t play up around the bend after they released it back in the 80´s, but it didn´t upset me at all. They said that Andy had hurt his leg earlier and that´s sad, but I have say that it didn´t fit into their image that Andy was walking with a stick, but better that than without the whole thing. Still music and sound was great!!!

It's nice to hear comments about the gig with good arguments. And everyone who knows about Andy's accident knows he's not able to run around the stage all the time. And I guess the rest of the band is meant to be on the background, just like they were in the 80's.. Atleast Mike has enough space on stage :) Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to see them but I'll see them atleast once this summer in Ankkarock..

My bestfriend loves you truly, but she don't know how to use Internet so I have to tell her about it so she can come here. Your songs are so emotional for her, especially the song Tragedy. Her bigbrothers friend died dramatically when my bestfriend was about six or so and when my bestfriend heard this Tragedy song after about ten years after her bigbrothers friend had died, she cried... And now she listens your music all the time. YOU ARE HER GOD! BTW, Very nice site ^__^

Hello! Hanoi Rocks was pretty good in Kouvola Party Planet 2002 Festival. Mike was the best. His singing was great and he kept the thing together. He is nowdays better live performer than ever. He is like mixed Iggy Pop and Steven Tyler. Andy had a problem with his feet and it looked stupid but the guitar playing rocked. He was maybe a little bit too drunk. But the time was something like 1.30 pm. Other guys were again good back up band. Lacu is allready the real Hanoi drummer..I hope that in Ruisrock Hanoi is better. Rock n Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!

All this talk about censoring messages on the board remimded me of an old prediction from the past which eventually came true in the most horrifyin way. Heinrich Heine once wrote;"Das was ein Vorspiel nur, dort wo man Bücher Verbrennt, Verbrennt man auch am Ende Menchen"; "That was only a prelude, there where books are burnt, ultimately people are burnt"...uncanny resemblance, huh?:)

Alright people, it's time to look in the mirror :) There has been quite a lot (read: too much) stupid writing in this guestbook. Too much opinions without arguments. If you hate something, you should write why hate it instead of just flaming. Atleast all this shit shows that the BAND is very interesting. Like Andy said in his book: You got to be either loved or hated to be interesting..nothing in between.

To Webmaster Markku: Thanks for an excellent job with this website. This guestbook however has turned into some kind of a ”toilet wall”: angry, rude and jelous anonymous people with so many messages; so little to say. I personaly think a message board, with same rules as they have for example in ILTASANOMAT- magazine’s discussion forum, would work better. Especially when this new law, that every Finnish website with some kind of a discussion forum should have an editor-in-chief who is legally responsible for all the material written, is likely to come into force in near future. Anyone who doesn’t like this kind of a ”censorship”, has of cource every right to for example go to www.geocities.com and open an own ”Anti-Hanoi”-internetpage – and get a life. Yours truly...

The Swedish meatball: I didn't mention names 'cos I didn't have anyone special on my mind, I haven't written down the names. I've just visited this guestbook three years and countless times and seen some groundless messages here. I'm not pointing my finger at anyone special, I think people know if their messages are for example insulting or not. And hey, I'm Finnish so this is no cultural difference for me.

- Monday, June 24, 2002 at 20:38:41 (EET DST)
Katie and Words Are Energy raise some very good points that need addressing. Whilst I'm not totally in favour of censorship, I think it would occassionally be beneficial for the Webmaster to censor some of the more 'verbally voilent/vulgar' messages in this guestbook. It's no longer possible to express a point of view without being subjected to abuse from those with a differing opinion. Sensible and intelligent conversation has become impossible. I used to enjoy coming here and sharing opinions but now it's turning into a nightmare. It seems some people here have a hidden agenda and their main puropse in life is to goad others into confrontation. I shall now expect verbally abusive messages telling me what a wanker I am for expressing an opinion and to piss off! Well, so be it. It's a very sad state of affairs when we lower ourselves to such depths don't you think?

Here, here Katie. I agree with you completely. You can express yourself in the negative without insulting people. I think that SOME people are openly brutal because they think they are anonymous on this guestbook. To ?, LOL means Lots Of Love, which is definately missing from this guestbook at times. Buy the way, to all the individuals throwing shit at the Americans, which I am not by the way, may I remind you that both Angela McCoy and Jude Wilder, may she Rest in Peace on her day of birth today, are both Americans. Powerty stinks: I didn't say you should kiss butt, of course it's allowed to express opinions, but it doesn't have to be done in the meanest way! I've just seen some very insulting, thoughtless and prejudiced messages here. In MY opinion you can express negative opinions here, SURE, but you can do it smartly and with thought, not just throw shit to someone's neck. Well, I guess all of the messages aren't meant to be taken seriously, but some of them aren't nice as jokes. People should respect each other more.

It wasn't my intention to criticise anyone with English as a second language. I was merely pointing out the fact that it's not a good idea to impersonate someone unless you speak their language fluently. The reasons for this are blindingly obvious - as was the case with the Manson imposter. I have great respect for everyone in this guestbook who takes the time and effort to write in English. I am truly sorry if my words came across as criticism. It was totally unintentional.

Didn't you get it?? I DID NOT WRITE THOSE "Manson Himself" MESSAGES. I started using this nick as a joke because everybody was talking about him here.
Marilyn Manson
Belgium - Sunday, June 23, 2002 at 16:05:35 (EET DST)
That was a mean trick but you had the balls to admit it. Yes, I've seen Angela's grammar and in her defence at least she doesn't pretend to be someone she's not, unlike *someone* I could mention. Her mistakes are common ones made by English-speakers but your's.....well, it was OBVIOUSLY not Manson himself. Good try but NIL POINTS!!!

Manson's 'Tainted Love' is a pretty cool cover version. Plently of attitude/balls and far superior to the lame original. Kerrang TV channel is giving it plenty of airtime in the UK. Shame the guy's so damn ugly tho'!

No, I AM NOT THE REAL MARILYN MANSON. I just started using this nick when I saw everybody was talking about Manson here recently. However, I did not write the original Manson messages and I believe those are real. Talking about grammar. Haha!!! Why don't you check out Andy's wife, Angela's grammar on www.hanoirocks.com!!! TALK ABOUT GRAMMAR!!! And she was born in USA!!!
Marilyn Manson
Belgium - Sunday, June 23, 2002 at 15:52:15 (EET DST)
At least one of these supposed 'Marilyn Manson' messages is NOT by the man himself. The grammar is SO POOR it couldn't have been written by ANYONE with English as a first language.

I read the biography and now i have to say that im impressed by that Michael whatever..he annoyed the earth in the 80's, then he asked his old friends to sing with them coz he has to pay the rent and then at the end he tries to make himself credible as a rock star, the last mohican, the survivor 3 without food without water and without guitars. I think that's pathetic dont you think?? of course not because you are true fans..you all love hanoisux. I can understand you...you all are suffering of a lack of personnality so you think that listening to hanoisux is gonna make that any better but you're wrong..anyway my name is Joe Zgheib and you can e mail me for further questions at genjoe21@hotmail.com.

It looks like Manson has achieved exactly what he set out to do and that is get attention. And just like sheeps we're all falling right in line. How many people have jumped on his web site to see if he's talking about this. Every time he gets on this guestbook we talk about it for a week. It seems to me the guy is desperate for attention. Ignore him completely and after a few more desperate attempts maybe he'll give up. He reminds me of the little boy on the school grounds who wants attention and starts picking at people because he has no social skills to make friends any other way.

For the uninitiated, Uzbekistan gained independence from the USSR in 1991 and covers an area of 447,400 sq km. It's population is 20,531,000 and it's capital city is Tashkent. It's currency is the Rouble and it's main products are cotton, rice and textiles. So there! :-P Anything else you want to ask LOL?

It is totally weird Marilyn Manson is interested in Hanoi. Or is it just Twiggy? Manson interview: "Daisy and Manson were lovers, but Manson left him for Twiggy cuz Twiggy is "anatomically superior" to Daisy he explains." Totally wacko person! Is he an alien????? Sad and dark news, my friends and enemies. I´m here to tell you all that my dear friend Twiggy has now left Marilyn Manson, the band. He won´t among us no more only because he´ll be concentrating on persuing Michael Monroe now on for the rest of his little life.Where does it all come from, I might ask. Well...we got together a few nights ago and agreed he wasn´t a figure dark enough for my needs. His heart wasn´t true no more...he´s much too positive and even glam-rockish these days. Maybe he´ll eventually go bleaching his hair and wearing funny tigertoes! This upsets my mind a great deal but he´s gotta do what he´s gotta do. And to my latest knowledge that is go to Ruisrock,Finland and get backstage with Michael. So....if I´m not invited keep me informed what´s the case.

Dear Michael, Just wanted to wish you a Happy 40th birthday on the 17th!!! JB said you might be in the studio that day, even still hope you have a great birthday!!! I'm glad to see some things are falling in place for you right now such as Hanoi Rocks and more solo material since this has been a very tough year for you!! Hang in there, things will pay off in the long run!! Can't wait to see you and Hanoi return to the states! You know I will be there!! I made a joke on the mailing list that Jb might be telling you about, but I basically said now that you're hitting the big 4-0 we're now going to have to call you the Flashing Psychadelic Man. Your not a kid anymore!! Just jokin' man, you know what they say - you're only as old as you feel!!! So how do you feel?? Just jokin'! Keep your chin up & keep on rockin'!! See you at a future show in the States! Happy Birthday!

A serious question to Andy. Why do you claim that you are all sober when you're on stage? It just isn't true!! Even my 11 year old son noticed you were DEAD DRUNK on stage!! My son has played guitar for 2 years and yet he noticed some playing mistakes you did because you were DEAD DRUNK!! Why should we pay all the money to see a dead drunk guitarist on stage???

Have courage to live your life sober!! It hurts, but even the hurt is worth it. I feel SHIT because I lost so many people I really, really loved... I lost them because we have drugs in this world.

I don't think that Michael has any problem with drugs, if he'd use drugs like "in the old days" everybody probably would see it, right? So if the man can control his use of drugs, I think it's fine, not that I'm supporting drugs, hell no! Everybody makes their own decisions in life. If you smoke pot sometimes, does it mean you're a user? I don't think so. Well, could we please just change the subject now, let's talk more brighten things, like ROCK N' FUCKING ROLL!!

No, it's NOT fine to use drugs. Michael was lucky not to be up on a manslaughter charge for driving under the influence that night. Would it still be fine if he'd crashed and killed innocent members of YOUR family? "Oh well, never mind, my ENTIRE family just got wiped out but that's fine. It's only rock 'n' roll." It's a fucking stupid thing to do.

Well, it isn't such a long time ago - a year or so - when Mike was stopped by police driving a car without a driver's license 'cos his driving looked too erratic. Medical examinations found both cannabis and speed in his blood. This doesn't mean that you can't be AGAINST drugs but perhaps more that you have a problem...

Henka, I'm just wondering how it is so easy for you to make a statement about somebody you do not know, with such ease? Do you know for a fact that Michael is on speed, did you physically see him take it? Or are you making an assumption based on how you feel he acts on stage? Is it because he is 39 years old and has alot of energy on stage that you make this statement like it is a fact? OH, or is it that he sat and shared his apparent habit with you one day over a coffee? Have you ever contimplated the effects of your statements on other people. Take another listen to some of his solo material. Read some of his interviews. I'm finding it very hard to believe, as I hope others are, that a man so against alcohol and herion is doing speed to get through a show. Please think before you speak

Speaking from the viewpoint of being a parent, I'm not ever going to be in support of drugs but everyone makes their own choices in life. If you want to take drugs, dont start complaining when your health falls apart. What the hell did you expect? If you want to believe speed cant kill, that's your choice too. How many dead people thought the same about ecstasy? I want my kids to remember Hanoi for the music and not for the booze and drugs they consumed. It IS possible to rock'n'roll whilst sober.

Hey Prozac, what about Lemmy? He's a true MOTÖRHEAD (if you know what I mean...) and is still able to rock'n roll. Comparing the statistics its safe to say that smack kills, speed and weed don't. I think Mike's still able to perform amazingly well even IF he has had problems with drugs. Also booze kills, cigarettes kill, meat kills, sex kills, Kill City Kills... ;) But long live rock'n roll, hopefully both Andy & Mike can still deliver the goods for a long time to come...!

Well, Prozac girl, you seem not to know the FACT that Andy had all his teeth redone as transplants a few years ago after his drug/methadone use/cure got all his teeth to rot... Watch the "Real McCoy"-movie to testify this fact and all those pics/interviews where Andy desperately tries to hide his teeth when he's laughing. And it looks like all those drugs took away his hair too as what we now see spotting on Andy's head looks more like a wig than any real hair whatsoever... But what the heck, it's ROCK'N ROLL!!!

Well I have to say people, this guest book often makes me laugh out loud. I can't believe some of the things that get written up here. Even after Michael Monroe responds to comments and urges people to reframe from listening and spreading rumors because they are HURTFUL, people persist in writing things they probably know nothing about. For all you bloody know Andy had the worst flew on the planet and could barely stand, but came to the show anyway. It IS fun to hear people's opinions, even if I don't agree, but could we please do it without lashing out, swearing at each other, and saying cruel things about the musicians we are supposed to be supporting. Clarification is good, so write Andy and ask him, if he wants to share maybe he will. P.S. The Axl Rose Hair contraversy is hillarious, never has Axl's hair colour sparked such reactions, I'm sure. Thanx for that great laugh. Have fun with this life, I'ts short. Lynn

Last night was like transcending the boundaries of everyday life into something more real, at least for a few hours. What can I say? Suffering from the thirtynothing-boreness that evidently comes to all of us who have not yet settled down completely (i.e. no kids, no mortgages or greater commitments to anyone but ourselves), still searching the meaning of it all. For some years now I have been grieving my (lost?) youth and all the dreams I once had, feeling empty inside but not knowing what to do or how to change my situation (not that I am an overly negative person or anything, I am just having problems accepting the fact that I am a grown up with a steady income and regular times, not much rock´n roll anymore...). However, last night at Inkonst here in Malmö changed all of that for a short while, through the wonderful performance by Michael Monroe and the band. I lack the words to describe what he did to me, but I owe him, and of course the band, sooo much now. Thank you Michael, I love you and I always will (though definitely not carnally, what I am feeeling is just pure admirational platonic love. Oh well, you're not too bad looking either, and quite sexy as well, now when I think about it so I guess... hehe!). Seriously, thank you for making me feel 18 again, and thank you for showing me that it is OK to be over 18 and still have fun (sometimes I doubt as most of my friends got married, had kids, bought houses and forgot everything about rock'n roll a long time ago, while I felt different and wanted something more). And most of all, thank you for all the great music that you have created, the wonderful moments you have added to my life since I was 14 and bought my first Hanoi record!

My advice to anyone who has good health and wishes to keep it is to avoid the modern medical establishment completely! They will ruin your health. Go holistic and naturopathic.

Well, everyone of us gets older. But still Andy looks cool, I mean, the more he gets older, more better he looks. New hairstyle is very punk rock!

Comparing to the man we Finns have used to see for the past years, Mr McCoy has been in a surprisingly good shape. Of course to all you foreigners he might appear in a bad condition, but then you should have seen the Briard-gigs or the acoustic sets he used to play for beer money...
The Truth

What do you expect from a man who has fallen down from a balcony on 3rd floor and who has been addicted to smack for so long that he cannot live without strong medication (Temgesic = a medicine for heroin addicts to cease the withdrawal symptoms)? Both factors clearly affect his playing and it doesn't get any better by his alcohol intake. I can promise all you worried people that I've seen Mr McCoy on stage in much worse state, so we should be happy that he has been able to play this well on the Hanoi gigs. Unfortunately it seems like Mr McCoy has buried himself too deep into the shit to be able to crawl back into the real world anymore... :(
The Truth

people tell me I'm too high when I'm around, and when I'm not closer to the ground... I'm the living wreck and my name is Andy McCoy? After the Swedish gigs I must say that I'm really worried abouth Mr. McCoy. Rest of the band is brilliant, Michael is ageless, even in better shape than 20 years ago, but "Shakin' McCoy" is a living wreck who can hardly play or walk straight. And that's sad. Let us all hope that McCoys rock and roll lifestyle will not destroy Hanoi Rocks comebackdreams and become a bad boulevard of broken dreams.

Yes, it definitely shows in Michael's TV appearances that he's not speeding anymore :)!

Yeah, Mike and Andy are getting old and we would want to see them rocking for many more years to come! I personally think they probably fear doctors and have not gone to a routine check in a short while.

When was the last time these guys have been examined by doctors? Mike and Andy, you should get yourself checked at least once a year! You might have a high blood pressure (it has no symptoms) or something else that would need your attention.

Well I live in Finland and Michael has been quite a lot in papers, tv-shows etc. and I really believe that he doesn't use heavy drugs anymore, you can clearly see it.

in sweden, several journalists that have reviewed the gigs hanoi played here have insinuated that michael monroe uses drugs like amphetamine, and has a reputation for doing so. i find it strange to believe so, since he seemed so fit and into the gig i saw in stockholm. i do hope that it's just bad journalism picking up on rumours here, and not the truth.

The drummer is totally fucking fantastic, great technically aswell as a great performer throwing sticks in the air and stuff. Generally the rytmsection works really well but I guess these guys have been playing togheter for some time now since they played in Michaels band. The guitarplayer is good and does what he is supposed to do,witch is fine but I´d guess he would have more fun if he could do some more lead stuff, but hey Andy is the great entertainer. What the new guys really ad to this new lineup I must say is the vocals, they seem to have total control when it comes to second and third harmonies, and that´s great, listen to the harmonies on don´t ever leave me, the basplayer sings the second harmony on octav (dont know the english word, but I hope you understand) lower than on the original recordings, and its sounds really great. entertainmentwise the guys (except for the drummer) keep a low profile, and I guess that´s fine

Well....what can i say about the show yesterday at Sweden Rock ? I´m surprised -it was better than i could imagine. Mike is a fantastic ententainer with his acrobatic Bruce Lee kinda moves & kicks. I saw they were videotaping the whole show -lets hope it will be for sale later. The guys were really cool in the signing session as well. It was one of those rare moments in life........ If anyone was taking photos im intresting in buying some copies.....Just mail me....people like me....YEAH !!!!!

Just wanted to make it perfectly clear that I wasnt talking about Andy being under the influence or anything. I was only talking about him being unfocused playing solo, otherwise Andy´s playing was brilliant

I know Hanoi wont ever behave in mainstream way but I dont think Andy will be alive long if he doesnt control his (bad) habits. Mike & Andy should want Hanoi to be the very best but you have to clean up your act in order TO BE THE BEST. Please think about both your futures and dont join the long list of dead rockers. Dead rockers are no use to anyone! We only get one shot at life so dont fuck it up.

The drugs & booze thing is worrying but we shouldn't jump to conclusions. As Michael said, "Assumption is the mother of fuck-ups". But it's worrying when people begin to wonder if drugs are an issue again.

Forget BOOZE! Booze is not good for you - where the hell do you actually need booze? It's just an illusion that you would need booze for something!! Andy, please stop drinking booze!!! ..and the same goes for DRUGS!! Mike, I don't know if you are using drugs or not, but if you are, please stop using them!!!

News from the scenes tell more than a thousand words, Andy we´re worried about you, under the influence of booze or what ever you´re not the sharpest. Please get your act together and come thru...these first months of the "rebirth" are crucial/vital and you know that!

The show at Sweden rock was great! Sad thing the crowd dint get going until the end of the show. Entertainmentvise it was great, musicaly I´d wish Mr. McCoy would be a little more focused. He messed up a couple of solos (couple of sour notes on I can get it and much confussion on the solopart of people like me). He almost played a whole song (cant remeber what song right now) witout noticing the volume on the guitar was turned all the way down until the end of the solo. Mike had some trouble with the saxophone, but that was mainly the mixerguys fault, not being alert turning the volume up (most of the saxparts had no sound out in the crowd, dont know about the stagesound. Othervise the show was great and I think it will be better in time

I like it when guys talk about the rough stuff! I can't understand these ms. innocent "princessas" here on this guestbook that try to put the blame on men. Guys, you would be amazed if you knew what kinda fantasies these same girls have! Sex and sexuality in general is something we should talk about without having any fears about it. It's OK if guys are dreami
