the line "though there's no true love just finely tuned jealousy" is from Manic Street Preachers song called Life becoming a landslide. I just said it, My belief in love is much more complicated. but from some point of views, it seems that there is no true love. after all, everyone thinks and acts for him/herself. and the one who pushed the martians down, it would be nice to see you playin' better. It's so easy to shout the shit from the shadows and hide under that kinda name. grow up. but for everyone, peace & carin'.

firro! very smart line, but i doubt you'll get any girls in the bar with it. laughs. it's very easy to be sweet to people until you love them. though you seem to be sworn cynic about love, i humbly suggest that you keep your mind wide open. one day you may totally be taken by surprise.....i don't know, but you never know, right? take care. solveig

Hey Mike! Nice pages you have nowadays cos´ I didn´t visit here since long time. I think that you wrote these nice words about Jude. Thanks for you! Jude was wery special person what I have seen and feel these years when I have seen her, "like a sister" what I feel when she hug me there in Ankkarock. But anyway, everything nice for your life and you know that her soul is always with you. See you! Love, Jatta!

Hello everybody!Let me say you something about the Summersonic festival...IT WAS GREAT!And I thanx that Hanoi has played in the INDOORSTAGE, because a lot of real Hanoi fans could see them near and feel them near, you know that the people who were waiting in this stage, were waiting for Hanoi, only for HANOI, and no for other bands, just only for Hanoi, and let me tell you something more:that place was full!!The stuff must to close the door because it was FULL at all, and there were a lot of people who must to be out there 'cause there were no more place... So I think that no matter if they has played in the INDOORSTAGE, the FACTORYSTAGE or the OUTDOORSTAGE, the only thing that matter is that they're still HANOI ROCKS, they're still and forever THE BEST, in our fans'heart... Hanoi I LUV U!!!!!!!!!

I think that maybe we are jumping the gun about Guns n Roses and Hanoi. I saw GunsnRoses many times in the 90s and have heard right from Axl's mouth on stage that he admires Hanoi and Michael and that there would not be a gnr if it wasn't for Hanoi Rocks. I think its unfair to put Axl down until we hear from Michael. When Michael played at the Whiskey in the 90's, Most of the guys from GunsnRoses were in the audience cheering him on. Its about time some real rockers are playing music again..Doesn't anyone else remember how awful the mid ninties up until now how been music wise? Keep Rocking Hanoi and GunsnRoses!

Los Angeles, - Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 05:12:46 (EET DST)
What is this HISSING about 'do not blame Axl for..', FUCK THAT I SAY! If he has done something, why can't we discuss about it? Why can't we judge Axl? Is it because he is a rock'n'roll star we can't have negative opinnions about him? Has Michael Monroe deserved to be stabbed in the back one more time??? Axl was supposed to be a friendly character, not an enemy of the band and the success of Hanoi. It was AXL who made the judgement Hanoi Rocks can't play on stadium! Every measures were done to make Axl change his mind, but no... Costello of Hanoi Rocks wrote, that he went to see GNR gig after their own gig and that's when he got mad, if he would have seen Axl walking by, he would have punched Axl in his face. ..and I can't blame Costillo for saying that.
Let's speak about things with their right names
- Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 22:53:58 (EET DST)
I can't understand why you guys are comparing Hanoi and Gn'R all the time. I think those both bands are very great and more than that! If Axl is acting weird, so what, don't judge the music, 'cause the music is a first priority. At least Gn'R and Hanoi play that kind of music we all (or almost all) love...and it's great in this nowadays' "playback music" world....but this is just my opinion...and please don't damn me. Take care all of you!

about GNR/HANOI... I saw Hanoi (revisited) first time in Ankkarock 2001 and was totally blown away byt the energy and music. One of the best concert experiences for me ever. Last friday I saw GNR in Leeds, England and oh boy what a show it was. I doubted the new GNR but not anymore...Band really kicks ass, they play tight and Axl can still scream his lungs out. Axl also looked as good as ten years ago (or even better), you might say that it isn't GNR anymore without the other original members but it's as good as it can get without them. GNR played 10 songs from Appetite, 4 from Illusions and two new songs: Madagascar and The Blues. The show was great ROCKNROLL experience and one of the festival's highlights. Don't put the new GNR down before you see/hear them. The next thing are the new albums, I'm really interested in hearing them both.

Every Hanoi fan knows the facts. What I ment was that Axl or infact any of the band members have never said it public. Believe me, I have read Rolling Stone, NME all major papers I could have get me hands on. I have seen me interviews and seen the band live. Not even once I haven´t heard or seen name Hanoi Rocks. Well, In Helsinki back 1990 Axl told that he had a meeting with Mr Monroe and audience went crazy. Thing is that they wandet to be original and still pay their respects to originators. So that´s why the release, visits, duets and stuff. New GRN has recieved ecxelent reviews and why not? There is no band to be compared. This was the reason why Hanoi never got possibility to go same stage in Japan. In addition I must say that I have heard new GNR songs Madagasgar, The Blues and Chinese democracy. All great and Madagasgar is infact epic masterpeace, like Kashmir by Zeppelin. So when Axl finaly release Chinese Democracy we should see the chainge in music industry. Rock ´n roll is coming back and no one can stop. I truly hope that Hanoi is with when things start to happen.

I have tried to read every GNR interview that I have get my hands on since 80´s. My highlight was, when I read once in one US mag that one of Izzy´s favourite bands were Smack -> Finnish street rock band (that time) I have never seen any interview where Axl or band that time have said that Hanoi is one of the main influence. Have anyone? Axl was at the Dead,Jail Or R ´n R video, visited concerts, released Hanoi albums in US and Mr Monroe was a quest at UYI. This was their way of pay respects. Not directly. It has been like 10 years and people tend to forget. Personally I would like to see these Bands together, but what happened in Japan, will probably mean that it will not happen.

To "Elma-Aino",I have been in many Michaels gigs(over 20) and I don`t remember any concert where he hasn`t introduce the band,so don`t blackmail others if you don`t know the truth. And it`s very sad to see how some of you blame Axl Rose,he has been in those whom had believed in Hanoi Rocks,in every interwievs I have seen or read, he hasn`t talked a shit about HANO1. ROXX .and if he hasn`t allowed Hanoi get in to mainstage in Japan ,SO WHAT??? Ha noi get publicity more in media `cause of that.So we should be grateful to Axl not just blaming him.And what comes to publicity,I remember that Andy once said "..any publicity is good publicity.." or something like that..Have fun & remember to eat well ;)!!!

It has been asked, why Michael doesn't introduce the band to the audience at the gigs and why the new members have only so short names. Well, Michael has so big ego and he wants to get all the credit and groupies.

Hey, calm down now, We don't actually know the wholes story about this Japan outer/inner stage mess. I think we or at least some people need people / band like GNR also, so let's hope all good for them. Sometimes facts are not what they seem to be, so hopefully Axl & Mike are still friends. P.s. check out Costello's review of GNR Japan gig, not very blessing. love & light Steven

Fuck. Sometimes I just hate this world. Some days everything seems to be against you. Do you feel same? How can I find some happiness?? Do I need to change town and meet new people or what? I really feel shit 'cause I run into old 'friends' all the time and their presense make me feel bad. It's so hard to move away. What to do? Where can I find toughness to believe in myself and not care about what others think about me? I'm a big fan of life, but I would like to live it without evil people who try to put me down emotionally.

FUCK OFF LOSERS! Even AXL said that all the glory SHOULD HAVE BELONGED TO HANOI ROCKS, NOT GUNS AND ROSES!!!!!!!!!!!! RAZZLE was killed by that FUCKER MOTLEY CRUE LOSER AND THAT IS WHY GUNS N ROSES LATER GOT BIGGER THAN HANOI. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON! IF IT WASN'T FOR HANOI, IZZY WOULD HAVE NEVER COME UP WITH SUCH GREAT SONGS! IZZY MADE ALL GNR HIT SONGS. WHEN HE LEFT, GNR DIED. IZZY's FAVOURITE BAND WAS HANOI.
FUCK OFF

Gunnarit on myyny jotain 30 miljoonaa. Sit joku Anssi Kela myy suomessa yli satatuhatta vaikka onkin täyttä paskaa.

Joten rauhottukaa´mitä Axl mitä Andy´...mäkin rakastan musaa, mut mulla on kritiikki tallella.

Cant You See How Much GNR Loaned From Hanoi???? Axl Had very much same style that Mike and if you Half McCoy you will get Slash and Izzy... So i Think Axl would be very gratefull that Hanoi Existed... And As Andy Writes in his book something about that he saved Axl girlfriends life after The first drummer of GNR had fun with her and gave a too much drugs to her... thats why Axl sais he oves Andy... Then just Axls piss went straight up in the head, He Changed and GNR broke up...

it's a bit frustrating that Hanoi Rocks played a fantastic concert at Japan and all we talk here is how some american dude is an asshole. Always look at the bright side of life, people! Hanoi rocked and the audience will remember that, and that is what they went to do. Love, cheers and so on to everyone here and there.

i don't think axl gives a shit anymore about some former debts to andy. axl owes a favor for andy but it looks like nippon has totally screwed axls poor head. axl just fucks nippon maidens and don't give a fuck about Michael Monroe or Hanoi Rocks.

I am a Japanese fan. I saw HANOI ROCKS at summer sonic2002. When I was a junior high school student, I used to listen HANOI ROCKS everyday, it was the first time that I meet with rock band of the foreign country. Since then, I love rock music, have seen the performance of many bands of many countries, but this HANOI ROCKS at summer sonic was the best!! I saw real you by my eyes for first time, what I had long hoped came true,so glad that I crid. Please surely come to Japan again. Japanese fans are waiting eagerly.

Axl always was a dipshit. Even back in the old days when GnR were exciting. Perhaps he should have followed Hanoi's example and waited 18 years before rebirthing. Then again, you gotta have talent and charisma (which he sadly seems to be lacking by the truckload).

Comment: Axl just could not get through it... Ask anyone (who really knows), promotors tried, we tried, but there were no comments why we could not appear in same stage, after all we decided to perform for the fans sake, and after the performance... think there is no questions afterwards why...

OK, when MM is back home, how about a letter to update on what going on at the moment? I'd love to know his opinion on the gigs in Japan that they just did. Also what he thinks about being moved to a smaller stage when it's quite clear that they'd fit better on the main stage? Also what's going on with the next Hanoi album? You know, like the letters that we've had on this web site before.

Hei, puh.

Heippa vaan kaikille.

true hanoi fans can't like motley ? what ? so, is someone being stupid now or what ? what happened with raz and vince is absolutely horrible and devastating sad, I'm not denying it, but if you really think the way you wrote, there's something wrong with you. as a hanoi fan I can tell you that I like many kind of music, no matter what the people have done outside the music. I don't like motley, but not because of raz-accident, but because of I think their music is not so good. and hey yeah, high times is probably one fucking great band. love.

Here's a rumour that I heard from Hanoi crew. Apparantly Axl had said that there's no way GNR is playing on the same stage as Hanoi in Japan. There had been a long conversation with the organisers and AXL but he wouldn't change his mind. So Hanoi will have to play inside on a smaller stage when GNR is playing outside on the main stage. And it's all because Axl is afraid that no one will care about GNR when they've seen Hanoi play live. Maybe someone who goes to Japan can confirm after the show if they actually were on different stages (and how bad GNR sucked compared to Hanoi :-))

What a great thing it was to read your words Alive Again! The 4-CD box set would be a good addition to any Hanoi collection, especially as it includes solo stuff too & a nice booklet, but 'Decadent, Dangerous, Delicious' would be equally good (this is a 2-CD collection). I also had the same problem as you, i.e. a vinyl Hanoi collection but nothing to play them on. However, all the vinyl stuff was re-issued in 1995 on CDs (by Castle). I took the opportunity to update my collection and it was quite cheap too! You can find most of the CDs on the internet for next to nothing.

there are some collections, but the best would be the Hanoi Rocks Box that includes 4-cd's and a great booklet. it costs something around 40-50 euros and it's available in almost every musicstore, at least every store in Finland.

I´ve been without Hanoi Rocks and Michael Monroe for about 20 years when they finally showed up again. The last gig I saw with the "original" group sucked so I did´nt expect much when I went to see them again...guess what!? I got amazed!!! Hanoi Rocks are better than ever!!! I just fell in love with everything!! The songs are better! Michael has a stageperformance that is outstanding! What a wonderful surprise it was to re-discover this uniqe group! Now I´m busy trying to catch in about all time I missed...and I just found "Not Fakin It" on vínyl. I red the lyrics before I got the chance to listen to the album (I don´t have an old recordplayer) and I really liked the songs - aspecially "Smokescreen". I would really like to know more about that one... Well, I got all my old Hanoirecords on vinyl...does anyone know if there´s some collection-CD? What a great comeback, Michael and Hanoi Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you!!!!!

As a reasonably well informed individual, I can assure you that Costello does not play all guitars on the new stuff, on People Like Me the solo is actually half him & half Andy. On Lucky the rhythm guitar... all Andy. Then again, Michael also did some slide on one song. It's great to have three capable guitar players in the band :)

i partied thru ankkarock thouh i was in a catatonic state, but that never stopped me before so... i had fun. i loved the set, especially delirious and taxi driver and everything else was cool too. people ,stop whining about the irrelevant and take what you can get. you don't see hanoi everyday, right? about the great pyrotechnics, yea , they were a nice touch, but dear hanoi rocks, actually you don't need any 'cos you've got the live grenade on stage already now : michael monroe. i just hope he doesen't pull the pin off and explode. i hope he won't get that crazy,y'know. but i like that he's sorta crazy. i'm too. great minds think alike. hanoi rocks is just perfectly imperfect,y'know what i mean? rock Japan off their panties! it was also good to see the band in a good mood. thank you very much. rock til you drop! solveig. one happy customer. yea yea...

Costello is the best player in the Hanoi. It is plain that Costello plays all the guitars in studio and is much better than Andy McCoy. Costello was even greater in Popeda early in the day. It is true that Costello is great new star of Hanoi Rocks.

Hanoi fans can be reached on Internet Relay Chat, EFNET server, channel #hanoirocks. Connect to "irc.efnet.org" and join "#hanoirocks" and let the real time fan discussion begin! mIRC, for example, is a suitable software for using IRC. There is nothing like having a nice real time chat with Hanoi people! If you don't see anyone on the channel at the moment, don't give up! Just wait until someone comes! This is a new thing and that is why there might not be a lot of people there yet.

Strong alcohol is one of the worst drugs ever, Im sure if alcohol would be a new thing these days it would be totally forbidden. At least drugs are forbidden even if people do it. Strong alcohol screwed up my own life many times for many years and now im tryin to live without it even if its fuckin hard many times. But rockn roll isnt in a bottle, its about your own attitude. But ofcourse everyone have to make their own choices about everything in life. My own experience was that alcohol and soft drugs was really fun til they wore becoming a problem.

yeah.. you're right. people who can live without drugs are strong, but do you mean the alcohol is a drug? well, it kind of is, but some guys just like to live with beer and rock n' roll. it fits perfect. alcohol makes bad things happen, but I, I think it's one of the stones which made the rock n' roll in the early days (I know you will fuck with me with this kind of thinking). But it doesn't make sense. I don't care...

Hanoi guys did drugs back in the old days. I am not aware whether or not they use drugs nowadays. From what I have heard, Michael does not drink any alcohol (but I ain't sure, I just heard), but Andy perhaps drinks booze and probably uses heavy drugs, or then again maybe not. Hanoi guys at least used to treat their bodies like chemical factories and destroy their bodies by using ALL SORTS OF DRUGS. now at least michael has gotten some brains in his head and he is cool and does not need any drugs. he is a vegetarian.

Guns n´ Roses´ debute album Appetite for Destruction was named the best heavy rock album of all times by Spin magazine. According to them the album sounds like Hollywood at 2.00am but very genuine and dangerous and absolutely indispensable. The second place was snatched by the anonymous Led Zeppelin album from 1971. Black Sabbath came thrird with Paranoid(1971), Metallica fourth with Master of Puppets(1986) and AC/DC fifth witj Back in Black(1980). I personally agree on the winner but don´t know about the rest then...

hello soile, this is about whores again. Whores can have illusions about love or life just like for example doctors or policemen can. And especially whores have illusions because their reality is far from their dreams. Good things stay live in their illusions, not in reality. People who sell themselves can dream and they certainly have illusions, circumstances are just so bad that their illusions maybe never come true. And you don’t have to be sorry, I haven’t got prostituted though some might think so and some have tried to buy me, I just wrote couple lines of Hanoi Rocks (the song is awesome Café Avenue). The point: some need money and they can’t have it without selling themselves. One of the most terrible thing in the world is child abusement and I’m truly sorry what happened to you but child abusement is not the same thing than prostitution. Misuse of children is even worse, I guess. Long happy life & love to you, Makke and everyone here. And one commercial too, if you’re near turku 11.8, come to see the great band playin’ live, Crystal Ecstasy at club Downtown.

this is an answer to the person who got upset about my saying the thing about whores. well, maybe i didn't make myself clear enough. what i meant was: whores have no illusions about love or life and that is why i KINDA ENVY them. i would never ever wanna be a whore. i know their life is far from glamorous and worth living and they don't get to decide about their bodies and they are badly abused and so on and i also got badly abused when i was just a little girl so i almost ended up as a whore. now i,m so glad i didin't but believe i've had my share. so ,DO YOU GET THE POINT DEAR? and i'm deeply sorry that you got prostituted. i hope you survived it. but you play the hand that is dealt to you. solveig

Hello all you good old time rock'n'roll fans. I have always listened bands like Hanoi Rocks etc. an I always will. It's great to see that there still are people who look and behave like real rockstars (because that Mike and Andy certainly are). And believe me when I say that true rock is still alive and kickin'. Go check the website below...Riz...

hey there! i like ideas about breaking away or overthrowing the established order. i'm intereseted in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos, especialliy activity that had no meaning. it seems to me to be the road to freedom- external revolt is a way to bring about internal freedom. second time around. solveig

An old Isish verse..... May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and, until we meet again, may the Gud hold you in the palm of His hand. With love $

well, i was sitting in this health center today and a poster on the wall caught my eye. it said: win one heart over every day. that was kinda funny. and to my mind came hanoi rocks. i know it's very easy to win over hearts everyday for a genuine rock'n'roll band like you. yes, it's easy for you. but with that comes along certain responsibility to those hearts that appreciate your unique band. so don't go breaking those hearts with any crappy music. always aspire to higher and do the work it takes. create always. that's what god does too. i'm really looking forward to ankkarock don't crap out. ok, i know you won't 'cause you're pros. bye. solveig

Michael Monroe on oikeasti siltä Niburu-planeetalta maapallolle soluttautunut alien-salaliittolais-hiippari... =) lol =) Älkää stressatko!

What's the problem? Niburu, Planet X, or 32 other names, whichever you prefer; is the planet which is supposedly going to pass by earth, 14 million miles away at it's closest, in May to June of 2003 on it's journey around the sun every 3600 years. It is not a planet considered to be IN our solar system but DOES pass THROUGH our solar system in this 3600 year cycle. Planet X's passage next year could be the greatest catastrophic infliction of loss of life upon mankind, since Noah’s Ark. Supposedly, Planet X will enter the Earth’s orbit between May 15 and May 30 of 2003. Volcanoes all over the Earth will erupt along with multiple high magnitude earthquakes, whereby two thirds of the Earth’s population will be annihilated. Another 20% will starve to death during the next six months due to lack of food, water, sunlight and volcanic ash that will cover the Earth. Subsequently, only about 10% of the E arth’s population (600 million) will survive, which fits in nicely with the New World Order scenario for the reduction of Earth’s population. This may well be one reason for all the underground shelters through out the United States and the rest of the world. This will enable only the chosen people of the New World Order to survive. By keeping this story out of the major media it will delay the collapse of the world economy, stock markets and real estate prices. voiko tohon uskoa? http://www.detailshere.com/niburu.htm#Proof?
I'm afraid we are all dead soon..

What are you talking about? Hundred Million Martians already have two brilliant albums done and anyone with a brain can easily hear there's nothing wrong with the band's English or playing skills. If you were born in the eighties it doesn't mean you have to stay stuck back there, does it, ya wanker with your seven dwarves? Hearing is believing: www.hundredmillionmartians.com

It is funny, because I were there with 8 of my friends and we found the show excellent! These dudes rocked the place so hard that I needed to go straight to my boyfriend to make love. And it was great! Mainly because fantasizing those guys, especially the guitarist who played the black Gibson. He is so cute. I could store him into a bottle! The singer was great, too. All of us (all NINE) wet our pants while listening his gorgeous voice! But anyway, I think we will stop writing here and move to Hundred Million Martians questbook, instead hanging here old farts section. Kisses!

hundred million martians is very good band, true. but so is Crystal Extasy, which I think is maybe the best band in Finland nowadays. Free gig saturday at Naantali, also bands like Sweatmaster and so on. The festival is called Kuparock and everyone is very welcomed to be there and party.
